Plumbing FAQ
Common causes include deteriorated seals around windows, doors, and roof penetrations; frozen pipes during cold weather; loose connections at fittings and valves; cracked or damaged water tanks; and general wear on rubber hoses and water heater components. Regular inspection of accessible plumbing and keeping seals maintained significantly reduces leak risk.
Pump cycling usually indicates low water pressure somewhere in the system. Common causes include a failing pressure switch, clogged filter or water filter, partially closed valve, leak in the system, or air in the lines. Our technicians diagnose the exact cause and recommend appropriate repairs or pump upgrades if needed.
If you'll store your RV where temperatures dip below 32°F, winterization is essential. Ideally, perform it before the first hard freeze of the season. We recommend professional winterization using antifreeze rated for RV systems—typically 1-2 gallons depending on system size. For RVs in mild climates, draining the system may suffice, but adding antifreeze to seals and valves provides extra protection.
Most RVs use 3.0-3.5 GPM pumps at 40-55 PSI. Larger RVs with multiple bathrooms may need higher capacity pumps. Factors include your water heater capacity, number of simultaneous fixtures you want to use, and your preference for water pressure. We can recommend and install the right pump for your specific setup and usage patterns.
Electric water heaters may have failed heating elements or thermostats. Gas heaters might have faulty gas valves, thermocouples, or burners. Both types can suffer from sediment buildup reducing efficiency. We perform systematic diagnostics to identify whether the issue is electrical, gas-related, or simply requiring a good flush and anode replacement.
